Post Mortem – 2017

This was great hospital to explore during a very short window of opportunity a couple of years ago.  It was a massive building with a number of additions over the years and a maze-like layout, that took me a couple of visits to fully understand.  It had been closed for a few years, there was a nice level of natural decay that had set in and it was virtually untouched by vandals.  That window of opportunity was short lived, I managed to visit this location two or three times before it was completely destroyed, not more than a few months later.  Here is a photo of the morgue that was located in the basement of this demolished hospital.

Sinking Feeling – 2019

To get this shot I had to stand in the entrance way just inside the back door, that part of the floor was giving out too but thankfully it was enough to still hold my weight.  The basement had at least a couple feet of what I would imagine to be some pretty nasty water and it’s just a matter of time before this entire kitchen collapses into the basement.

Always Fresh – 2018

While new condominium towers are commonplace in the City of Toronto a closed Tim Hortons is pretty unique.  A pretty rare find, this Tim Hortons closed down when a North York plaza/office was bought by a development company.  The fast food restaurant was moved into another unit of the building while this section would be demolished.  This photo was taken just before dark, my friend had mentioned there was an abandoned Tim Hortons somewhere in the plaza but I had trouble finding it initially.  There was some light coming in through the windows which acted as my fill light for the main light source which was a flashlight I had brought with me.

Once the largest coal fired generating station in North America housing 8 generating units, it could produce up 4000 MW at max capacity, which would be enough to power approximately 4,000,000 homes.

This is the turbine hall inside this facility where the generating units were housed.

So apparently my followers don’t like seeing street photography, so I will switch gears and post something abandoned this time around.

This was one of the pavilions in a now abandoned zoo.  This building was filled with dead trees and it sits virtually untouched since its closure several years ago.  The zoo was open continuously for over 70 years until its recent closure which was attributed to declining attendance which resulted in large financial losses for the owners.
